UK: Annual Industrial Production decline accelerates in August

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Year-over-year UK Industrial Production fell by 1.5% in August, following a 1.1% drop in July, National Statistics informed on Wednesday. Analysts expected much less decrease of 0.6%. UK Industrial Production slid 1.1% between July and August, in comparison with the 0.1% rise registered between June and July and against expectations of a 0.4% increase.

On an annual basis UK Manufacturing Production fell by 0.2% in August, after decreasing 0.3% in July and against expectations of 1% growth. Between July and August UK Manufacturing Production dropped 1.2%, following a 0.2% increase between June and July and against market consensus of a 0.4% rise.

GBP/USD breached 1.6000 on poor data

The selling interest around the sterling is now gathering pace, dragging the GBP/USD to sub-1.6000 levels after lacklustre UK data during August....

Total Trade deficit narrowed to £-3.320 billion in August from £-3.449 billion in July, according to data released today by National Statistics. Analysts expected the deficit to narrow to £-2.050 billion.
