US: Fed speakers and Philly Fed index are today’s highlights - TDS

FXStreet (Delhi) – Prashant Newnaha, Rates Strategist at TD Securities, suggests that the US economic data calendar will be relatively light with Fed speakers and Philly Fed index releases.

Key Quotes

“The November reading on the Philly Fed index will be the highlight of the calendar, and TD’s forecast is for the headline index to rise back into expansionary territory to 1.2 from –4.5. The market expectation is for a rise to 0.0. The overall tone of this report should be broadly constructive.”

“Atlanta Fed President Lockhart remarks on the US economic and monetary policy outlook will be closely watched as the market continues to gauge the appetite among Fed officials for raising rates in December. As a current voter on the Committee he is generally seen as an important bellwether on the consensus view of the voters, and as such his remarks will likely be an important highlight for the markets.”

“Vice Chair Fischer will also be speaking, but his remarks will be on “Emerging Asia in Transition”. The weekly jobless claims and October leading indicator reports are also on the docket.”
