US: Initial jobless claims fall to 331,000
FXStreet (Córdoba) - Initial jobless claims for regular state unemployment-insurance benefits fell by 20,000 to a seasonally adjusted 331,000 in the week ended Jan 31, the Labor Department reported Thursday.
This reading came in below expectations of 335,000 and also below the 351,000 registered the previous week (revised up from 348,000).
Continuing claims, which reflect people already receiving benefits, rose by 15,000 to a seasonally adjusted 2,964,000 in the week ended January 24 vs. 2,949,000 in the previous week (revised).
