Fed minutes and Jackson Hole Symposium US highlights this week - BNZ
FXStreet (Łódź) - Spiros Papadopoulos from BNZ points to the release of the minutes from the Fed's last monetary policy meeting as well as the Jackson Hole Symposium as the most important events of the week on the US economic calendar.
Key quotes
"At the July 29-30 FOMC Meeting, the FOMC was relatively dovish on the labour market, but acknowledged that the inflation risks had risen."
"So the Minutes will again highlight the debate between the hawks and the doves."
"There were no projection materials released at the July meeting, so we will have to wait until the September 17 meeting to reliably judge if members’ rate views have changed since the June FOMC meeting."
"At the end of this week the annual Kansas City Fed’s Economic Symposium is being held at Jackson Hole (August 21-23). Former Fed Chairman Bernanke used his keynote speech a few times to signal shifts in policy, so the event has become a key one for markets."
"As such, there will be plenty of interest in Janet Yellen’s opening speech on Friday."
